Yankees' Eovaldi has no-hit bid ended in top of 7th at Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Nathan Eovaldi of the New York Yankees had his no-hit bid against the Texas Rangers ended by Nomar Mazara's single leading off the seventh inning.

Eovaldi is only the second major league player from Alvin High School in Texas. The other is Nolan Ryan, who holds the major league record with seven career no-hitters.

New York led 3-0. Jacoby Ellsbury and Starlin Castro both had solo homers.

The Rangers had only two baserunners through six innings Monday night before Mazara, a rookie who turns 21 on Tuesday, singled through the left side of the infield.
