NEW YORK -- Nathan Eovaldi has agreed to a $5.6 million, one-year contract with the New York Yankees, who also settled with shortstop Didi Gregorius at $2,425,000.
Eovaldi earned a raise from $3.3 million after going 14-3 with a 4.20 ERA in 27 starts during his first season with New York. His agreement, announced Tuesday, was at the midpoint between the $6.3 million he had asked for and the $4.9 million he had been offered when proposed arbitration salaries were exchanged last week.
Gregorius' contract is for more than four times the $553,900 he earned last year. It was $12,500 above the midpoint of the $2,525,000 he had asked for and the $2.3 million he had been offered
Both deals are not guaranteed.
New York has two players remaining in arbitration: closer Aroldis Chapman and starting pitcher Ivan Nova.
