Twins agree to deals with 4 arbitration-eligible players

MLB, Minnesota Twins

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins have agreed to one-year contracts with infielders Eduardo Escobar and Eduardo Nunez, right-hander Casey Fien and lefty Tommy Milone, averting salary arbitration.

Escobar will earn $2.15 million, Nunez will make $1,475,000 million, Fien will get $2,275,000 million and Milone will earn $4.5 million in 2016.

As an arbitration rookie, Escobar made the biggest percentage jump from his $532,000 salary in 2015 after becoming the regular shortstop down the stretch. Milone got the biggest overall increase, from $2,275,000 million last year.

The deals were done Friday before teams and arbitration-eligible players exchanged proposed salaries. Right-hander Kevin Jepsen and third baseman Trevor Plouffe remained unsigned.

Jepsen asked for $5.4 million, and the Twins offered $5.05 million. Plouffe asked for $7.95 million, and the Twins offered $7 million.
