NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Chicago Cubs have agreed to terms with right-hander Trevor Cahill on a one-year deal worth $4.25 million, sources have confirmed to ESPN's Buster Olney. Cahill, 27, was picked up late in the year by the Cubs after struggling with the Atlanta Braves in 2015. After posting a 7.52 ERA partly in a starter's role in Atlanta, the Cubs moved him to the bullpen, where he thrived, giving up just eight hits in 17 innings. Cahill also appeared in six playoff games for the Cubs, turning into one of manager Joe Maddon's most reliable options in the bullpen. Cahill will get a chance to start in spring training in case he;s needed in that role, but he is more likely to begin the year in the bullpen again.
