CUBS ROLL
The Cubs try for their 10th straight win and a sweep of the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. The victory would give the Cubs their best streak since they took 12 in a row in 2001. Dan Haren starts for the Cubs against ace Chris Sale.
AT A LOSS
Shelby Miller is among the NL leaders in ERA and was an All-Star last month. Yet the Atlanta righty is winless in his last 15 starts, losing eight times going into this outing at home against Arizona. The Braves haven't backed him much, scoring over three runs just twice during his drought.
JACKPOT
Jackie Bradley Jr. looks to build off a career day as Boston wraps up vs. the Mariners after totaling 37 runs and 47 hits in the first two games. Bradley homered twice and doubled three times Saturday, becoming the first player with five extra-base hits at Fenway Park since Cleveland's Lou Boudreau in 1946. It's been a weird week for Seattle pitchers -- after Hisashi Iwakuma threw a no-hitter against Baltimore, Mike Montgomery and Felix Hernandez got shelled by Boston. Now, it's Vidal Nuno's turn.
YANKED AROUND
Toronto tries to snap its first losing streak since late July and avoid a three-game sweep by the Yankees. The Blue Jays returned to Rogers Centre with an 11-game winning streak, but the highest-scoring team in the majors went just 11 for 63 (.175) in dropping two straight to New York. Rookie Luis Severino starts for the Yankees against Drew Hutchison, who's 11-2 despite a 5.26 ERA.
ZOOMING ZACK
Dodgers ace Zack Greinke has won seven straight decisions over his past eight starts. He tops the majors with a 1.59 ERA as LA hosts Cincinnati.
DOG DAYS
Hector Santiago seeks his first win in nearly a month when the Angels finish their series at AL Central-leading Kansas City. After going 3-0 with a 1.13 ERA in five starts -- all Los Angeles wins -- he's cooled considerably since, going 0-2 with a 5.91 ERA in four outings. The Royals send out 24-year-old fireballer Yordano Ventura.
BIG OL' CALF
The Diamondbacks expect Yasmany Tomas back in the lineup from his strained calf, albeit a day later than anticipated. The third baseman was held out for the lineup at Atlanta for a third straight game Saturday to avoid risking a more serious injury. "We can't afford to lose him," manager Chip Hale said. "That's a big ol' calf muscle."
