Yankees post 11-run inning against Rangers

MLB, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The New York Yankees more than doubled a big inning by the Texas Rangers.

New York had 11 runs and 10 hits in the second inning Tuesday night after Texas had taken a 5-0 lead in the first.

The Yankees sent 15 batters to the plate, and Mark Teixeira was the only one without a hit in the big inning. Teixeira struck out as the first batter to face reliever Wandy Rodriguez.

New York led 6-5 on Alex Rodriguez's RBI double with no outs that chased starter Martin Perez.

No. 9 batter Brendan Ryan had two doubles and three RBI in the frame, and Didi Gregorius had a three-run triple and scored twice.

It was the biggest inning for New York since the Yankees scored 12 runs against Baltimore on July 30, 2011. The Yankees record for runs in an inning is 14, set July 6, 1920, at Washington.

Texas had last allowed 11 runs in an inning April 23, 2008, against Detroit. The Tigers' 13 runs in an inning of a 2001 game are the most allowed by the Rangers.

Chris Young, who scored twice in the second, added a grand slam in the third that made it 15-5.
