A look at what's happening all around the major leagues Wednesday: --- TROUT READY? The Angels will check to see if center fielder Mike Trout can return to the starting lineup. The reigning AL MVP was scratched from the series opener at home against Minnesota on Tuesday night because of a sore left heel. The two-time All-Star MVP said he felt an aching discomfort while walking around after waking up. YOUNG ARMS Marlins ace Jose Fernandez is 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA in three starts since returning from Tommy John surgery, with 21 strikeouts and one walk. The 2013 NL Rookie of the Year pitches against Arizona and another talented young arm in 23-year-old lefty Robbie Ray (3-4, 2.29 ERA). TRY AGAIN Cubs rookie Dallas Beeler is set to come up from Triple-A to start the second game of a doubleheader at Cincinnati. The 26-year-old righty went 0-2 in two starts after making his big league debut last season, and got a no-decision earlier this month vs. St. Louis. TAKE TWO Rangers manager Jeff Banister said he'll probably rest outfielder Josh Hamilton, giving him two days off in a row. Texas has an open date Thursday. Hamilton wants to play as much as possible, and Banister understands. "The rhythm of the game, the routine of the game, those are all important for everyday players," Banister said. "It's tough to play a couple of days and have any feel or rhythm for the game." RESTART Left-hander Tony Cingrani returns to the Reds' rotation as a doubleheader fill-in. Cincinnati moved him to the bullpen this season, saying it was a better fit after he started 29 games the past two years. A sore shoulder landed him on the disabled list, but he'll be activated to start the nightcap against the Cubs.
