LEADING OFF: Lester-Sale in Chicago duel; Odorizzi returns

MLB, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds

A look at what's happening all around the major leagues Saturday:

---

ACE OFF

It's ace against ace, with Chris Sale starting for the White Sox and Jon Lester for the Cubs. Sale came up short trying to set the record for consecutive starts with at least 10 strikeouts, against Toronto on Monday while Lester took a no-hitter into the seventh against St. Louis.

A RAYS' RETURN

Rays right-hander Jake Odorizzi (4-5) will make his first start since being put on the DL on June 9 with a strained oblique. He'll face AL wins and ERA leader Dallas Keuchel (11-3) and the Astros.

GOING LONG

Veteran starters John Lackey of the Cardinals and A.J. Burnett of the Pirates have made a habit of going deep into starts. Lackey has gone at least seven innings in seven of his last eighth outings, and Burnett has gone at least six over six previous starts.

BANGED UP

The Red Sox will have a better idea of the condition of their ace, Clay Buchholz, who left Friday night's start against the New York Yankees in the fourth inning because of elbow tightness.

RED BACK

Right-hander Raisel Iglesias will come off the disabled list to make a spot start for Cincinnati against Miami in place of right-hander Anthony DeSclafani, who is bothered by lingering tightness in his gluteus. Iglesias, who has been on the disabled list since June 5 with a strained left oblique, is 1-1 with a 5.11 ERA in six games, including four starts.

BABE'S DEBUT

Pitcher Babe Ruth made his major league debut for the Boston Red Sox in 1914 and received credit for a 4-3 victory over Cleveland. Get this, he was removed for a pinch hitter in the seventh inning, and Duffy Lewis' single led to the winning run.
