Rays' Matt Moore 'definitely ready' to return after Tommy John

MLB, Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay Rays left-hander Matt Moore, who has missed the past 14 months after having Tommy John surgery, is ready to return to the rotation Thursday against Cleveland.

"Definitely ready," Moore said.

Moore, who went 17-4 with a 3.29 ERA and made the AL All-Star team in 2013, has completed his minor league rehab assignment, had a bullpen session Monday and is ready to take the mound vs. the Indians.

He said his rehab from the elbow ligament replacement surgery went without a hitch and the Rays never pressured him to return sooner.

"Hats off to them for really being able to handle all that with -- I don't know if grace is the right word, but we didn't have many disagreements and I was healthy the whole way," Moore told reporters. "There weren't setbacks. ... It's been a success."
