LEADING OFF: Padres search for a skipper, Red Sox reeling

A look at what's happening all around the major leagues Tuesday:

---

RESUME, PLEASE

The Padres plan to be busy interviewing candidates to become interim manager for the rest of the season. Bud Black was fired Monday, and San Diego bench coach Dave Roberts guided the team hours later against Oakland.

BOSTON BOBBLES

The Red Sox try to end their seven-game losing streak, taking on Atlanta at Fenway Park. Lefty Wade Miley will make his first start since having a screaming match with Boston manager John Farrell in the dugout last week.

A GIANT FAN

Tim Lincecum faces his hometown team when San Francisco hosts the Mariners. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner, who turned 31 on Monday, grew up in Seattle and still lives there in the offseason. He has pitched against the Mariners only once, losing at Safeco Field in 2012.

ALTUVE ON DECK

Astros star second baseman Jose Altuve is expected back in the lineup to play vs. visiting Colorado. He has missed three straight games because of a strained right hamstring.

BACK TO BASEBALL

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo took advantage of Monday night's rainout to go watch the Blackhawks clinch the Stanley Cup. Rizzo returns to Wrigley Field when Chicago takes on Cleveland.

SWITCHED AROUND

Yankees right-hander Nathan Eovaldi and Marlins righty David Phelps swapped teams as part of a five-player trade in December. They're set to start against each other in Miami. "It would work out that way," Phelps said.
