Wily Peralta to miss 4-6 weeks with strained oblique

MLB, Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Wily Peralta is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after the right-hander suffered a strained left oblique during Friday's start.

Peralta, who is 1-5 with a 4.00 ERA in nine starts this season, left Friday's start against Atlanta in the fourth inning. Manager Craig Counsell was unsure who would take Peralta's place in the rotation.

"I didn't think I'd be on the DL,"  Peralta told reporters. "Four to six weeks is a long time to be out. It's tough, but it is what it is and I have to move forward and help them try to finish the season strong."

Meanwhile, Brewers shortstop Jean Segura, who has been sidelined with a broken right pinkie, will be activated from the disabled list, Counsell said.

Segura, who suffered the injury May 13, has a .306 on-base percentage with two homers, 12 RBIs and six stolen bases.

Counsell also said catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who has been out with a broken toe, will soon head out to begin a rehab assignment. He expects to return to the Brewers next week.

"I've been cleared for full activity so we're aiming for Monday," Lucroy told reporters. "That's what we're shooting for but for now, I'm going to spend a few days here doing some stuff full speed and then head out on a rehab assignment -- maybe three or four games. ... I shouldn't need that much."
