WASHINGTON -- Ryan Zimmerman's two-run shot with two outs in the 10th inning off Yankees closer Andrew Miller, who hadn't allowed a run this season, lifted the Washington Nationals to an 8-6 comeback victory over AL East-leading New York on Tuesday night.

Zimmerman's fifth homer this season -- and 10th game-ending homer of his career -- made a winner of Matt Grace (2-0), who threw the 10th.

Miller (0-1) had converted his first 13 save chances of 2015.

Bryce Harper hit one of Washington's three solo shots, giving him an NL-high 15 homers this season.

The Nationals have won three games in a row and improved to 13-4 in May. The Yankees, meanwhile, have lost six of their last seven games.

CARDINALS 10, METS 2

NEW YORK -- Randal Grichuk had three extra base hits and drove in three runs a night after striking out five times, Mark Reynolds homered among his three hits and St. Louis teed off on New York starter Jonathon Niese a victory.

Michael Wacha (6-0) gave up a two-run homer to Daniel Murphy in seven innings of four-hit ball to join the Mets' Bartolo Colon and Seattle's Felix Hernandez for most wins in the majors. The six wins are a career-high for the 23-year-old right-hander.

Cardinals manager Matheny loaded his lineup with right-handers to face the lefty Niese, leaving Jason Heyward, Matt Carpenter and Matt Adams on the bench.

ROYALS 3, REDS 0

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Yordano Ventura, Kelvin Herrera and Wade Davis combined on a four-hitter for Kansas City.

The Royals, who beat the New York Yankees 6-0 on Sunday, logged consecutive shutouts for the first time since Sept. 29-30, 1992, when Dennis Rasmussen and Rick Reed blanked the California Angels.

Ventura (3-3), who was 0-3 in his five previous starts since a victory on April 12, allowed four singles, struck out six and walked none. He reached a three-ball count on only four hitters and retired all of them, lowering his ERA to 4.56.

Herrera gave up a walk in the eighth, but nothing else. Davis worked a spotless ninth, claiming his seventh save in as many opportunities.

Mike Moustakas went 3 for 4 with two doubles and drove in two runs.

INDIANS 3, WHITE SOX 1

CHICAGO -- Trevor Bauer pitched four-hit ball into the eighth inning for his third solid outing against the White Sox this season, helping Cleveland snap Chicago's season-high six-game winning streak.

Brandon Moss homered for Cleveland. Michael Brantley and Jose Ramirez each drove in a run.

Bauer (3-1) continued his mastery of the White Sox, retiring his first 11 batters. He allowed one run and struck out seven in 7 1-3 innings.

The right-hander improved to 2-0 against the White Sox this season. He has permitted just three runs and 12 hits while striking out 22 in 20 1-3 innings against them.

RAYS 5, BRAVES 3

ATLANTA -- Erasmo Ramirez won his second straight start, Asdrubal Cabrera homered and Tampa Bay beat Atlanta.

Evan Longoria and Logan Forsythe both drove in a run for Tampa Bay, which has won two straight and five of seven.

Ramirez (2-1) gave up two hits, three runs and two walks and struck out five in five innings. The right-hander has a 2.25 ERA over his last nine appearances, including three starts.

HOUSTON -- Chris Carter and Colby Rasmus each hit two-run homers, Roberto Hernandez pitched six strong innings to help Houston beat Oakland.

Carter hit his homer off the facade in left in the second to give Houston a 2-0 lead, and Rasmus launched his homer to right in the eighth to extend the Astros' advantage to 5-2.

Two batters after Rasmus, Jason Castro added a solo home run to right.

Roberto Hernandez (2-3) gave up two runs and seven hits with three strikeouts for his first win in four starts. He has gone at least six innings in each of his last seven starts.

Pat Neshek got the final out for his first save.

Houston (26-14) has the best record in the American League and is off to its best start in franchise history through 40 games.

TWINS 8, PIRATES 5

PITTSBURGH -- Brian Dozier got things started with a home run in the first inning and Trevor Plouffe hit a two-run shot in a six-run second as Minnesota built an early 7-0 lead then held on to beat Pittsburgh.

The highlight for the Pirates came in the bottom of the Twins' big second inning.

Pedro Alvarez hit a 461-foot home run that landed in a boat docked along the Allegheny River beyond the right-field stands. Alvarez became just the third player to reach the water on the fly since PNC Park opened in 2001

Ricky Nolasco (4-1) made it through 5 1-3 shaky innings to win his fourth straight start.

Francisco Liriano (1-4) gave up both home runs and was tagged for seven runs in just two innings.

ORIOLES 9, MARINERS 4

BALTIMORE -- Jimmy Paredes homered and had a career-high four RBIs, and Baltimore overcame a home run by former teammate Nelson Cruz in a victory over Seattle.

Paredes singled in two runs in the fourth inning and added a two-run drive off Danny Farquhar (0-2) in the sixth.

Returning to Camden Yards for the first time since signing as a free agent with Seattle in December, Cruz hit his major-league leading 16th homer with two on in the third to give the Mariners a 4-1 lead.

Cruz led the majors with 40 home runs in 2014, his only season with the Orioles. He received a warm reception and chants of "Cruuuze!" from the crowd of 19,494 before his first at-bat.

BREWERS 8, TIGERS 1

DETROIT -- Ryan Braun, Adam Lind and Aramis Ramirez hit consecutive home runs in a six run-third inning, Jimmy Nelson pitched eight strong innings, and Milwaukee beat Detroit.

Daniel Hudson (1-1) pitched two innings to earn the victory and Enrique Burgos got his second save one day after picking up his first.

Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton hit his 12th home run of the season and fourth in the last five games. Miami lost its fifth straight and second in two days under new manager Dan Jennings.

Mike Dunn (0-3) issued the pivotal homer to Pollock, who hit the first pitch he saw just over the left-field wall down the line.

RED SOX 4, RANGERS 3

BOSTON -- David Ortiz and Mike Napoli each homered and drove in two runs, Wade Miley pitched seven strong innings and Boston beat Texas.

Boston got a scare when Leonys Martin led off the ninth with a pinch-hit homer off Koji Uehara, ending the closer's streak of eight straight hitless appearances. Uehara, however, held on for his 10th save in 11 opportunities.

After going 5-5 on their road trip, the Red Sox got off to a strong start on their six-game homestand with one run and four hits in the first inning while Miley (3-4) held the Rangers scoreless through the fifth.

Boston took a 1-0 lead in the first against Yovani Gallardo (3-6) when Dustin Pedroia doubled with one out and scored on a single by Ortiz. Singles by Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval loaded the bases, but all three runners were stranded.

ROCKIES 6, PHILLIES 5

DENVER -- Nick Hundley hit a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning and Colorado snapped Philadelphia's six-game winning streak.

Hundley lined a 1-2 pitch from reliever Justin De Fratus (0-1) into the seats in left-center. Hundley also had an RBI single in the first.

Scott Oberg (2-1) earned the win by getting the Rockies out of a jam in the eighth. John Axford pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save as a steady mist began to fall.

The first pitch was delayed 17 minutes by rain that was supposed to hit the area, only to miss. The Rockies have now been interrupted by weather at Coors Field six times in the last three weeks, including four postponements.
