BOSTON -- Brett Gardner drove in three runs, Nathan Eovaldi pitched well into the seventh inning and the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 4-2 on Saturday for their 12th win in 15 games.

One day after tying Willie Mays for fourth place with 660 career homers, Alex Rodriguez singled in four at-bats.

Gardner doubled home a run in the third, then gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead with a two-run single in the fifth. Chris Young hit his sixth homer of the year, a solo shot in the ninth.

Eovaldi (2-0) allowed two runs in 6 2-3 innings. He left after his only walk, to Blake Swihart. Chris Martin relieved and Mookie Betts hit an RBI double.

Dellin Betances struck out all four batters he faced for his first save.

Wade Miley (1-3) took the loss.

Swihart got a hit in his major league debut.

TIGERS 2, ROYALS 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- David Price took a shutout into the ninth inning before finishing with a five-hitter as the Detroit Tigers beat the Kansas City Royals.

Price (3-1) limited the Royals to four singles until Lorenzo Cain homered with two-out in the ninth spoiled his bid for his second career shutout. Price struck out three and walked none. His only shutout was April 24, 2012, against the Los Angeles Angels.

The Tigers took the lead in the third on Christian Colon's throwing error and Ian Kinsler had an RBI single in the fifth.

Royals right-hander Edinson Volquez (2-3) returned to the rotation after serving a five-game suspension and gave up the two runs and five hits, while walking three and striking out four in six innings.

NATIONALS 1, METS 0

NEW YORK -- Gio Gonzalez struck out nine in seven crisp innings on one of his favorite mounds, outpitching Jonathon Niese to lead the Washington Nationals over the New York Mets.

Michael Taylor drove in the only run with an infield single, and Washington won for the 16th time in its last 18 games at Citi Field. Ian Desmond snapped an 0-for-29 slump with two hits and threw out a runner at the plate.

Gonzalez (2-2) gave up six hits, walked two and even made a diving play on a slow grounder, rebounding nicely after he was hit hard Sunday in a loss at Miami. The left-hander entered 5-1 with a 1.88 ERA in eight starts at Citi Field.

Aaron Barrett and Matt Grace combined on a perfect eighth, and Drew Storen quickly worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his sixth save.

Niese (2-2) pitched around traffic all night but also went seven innings. He allowed nine hits and one walk in a hard-luck loss as New York fell to 11-2 at home this season.

ASTROS 11, MARINERS 4

HOUSTON -- The surprising Houston Astros matched their longest winning streak in nine years by posting their ninth straight victory behind Collin McHugh and a lot of home-run support.

The Astros, who went 70-92 last year after three straight seasons of at least l06 losses, have their best winning string since a nine-game streak in 2006. This victory gave them the best record in the AL.

Houston hit five homers, including a three-run shot by Jose Altuve and a two-run drive by Evan Gattis.

Nelson Cruz homered twice, giving him 13 for Seattle. The Mariners homered four times, all off McHugh.

McHugh (4-0) settled down and won his 11th straight decision dating to last August.

TWINS 5, WHITE SOX 3

MINNEAPOLIS -- Trevor Plouffe and Torii Hunter homered, helping Ricky Nolasco return to the rotation with a win.

Plouffe also lined an RBI single with the bases loaded in the fifth that broke a 3-all tie. Minnesota won for the seventh time in 10 games.

In his first start since coming off the disabled list with a sore elbow, Ricky Nolasco (1-1) held the White Sox to three runs on eight hits over five innings. He had been out since April 11.

The Twins used five relievers to blank Chicago after Nolasco left. Glen Perkins pitched the ninth and remains perfect in eight save chances.

Hunter hit a two-run homer off Hector Noesi (0-3) in the third.

CARDINALS 2, PIRATES 1, 11 INNINGS

ST. LOUIS -- Matt Carpenter hit a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning Saturday and the St. Louis Cardinals once again beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 in extras.

The Cardinals have won five in a row. They defeated the Pirates 2-1 Friday night on Matt Adams' single in the 10th.

Pittsburgh left a season-high 18 runners on base and the Cardinals stranded just four. St. Louis has won 15 of its last 18 against the Pirates at Busch Stadium.

Peter Bourjos doubled in the St. Louis 11th. He was trapped off second by Jared Hughes (0-1) and caught stealing third. Pete Kozma and Jon Jay singled and Carpenter hit a deep fly to left that easily scored the winning run.

Carlos Villanueva (3-1), the seventh St. Louis pitcher, went one inning.

BREWERS 6, CUBS 1

CHICAGO -- Mike Fiers struck out 12 in six innings and Ryan Braun homered for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cubs got a scare in the second when rookie second baseman Addison Russell and first baseman Rizzo collided on Carlos Gomez's bloop single to shallow right field. Both players remained in the game.

The Cubs were sloppy, too. Logan Schafer hit a grounder in the ninth and wound up circling the bases when shortstop Starlin Castro made a throwing error, then Rizzo threw to third base, where no one covered the bag.

Fiers (1-3) and three relievers combined for 18 strikeouts. Rookie Kris Bryant fanned all four times up.

Rizzo homered for the Cubs' run.

Jake Arrieta (3-2) allowed four runs and seven hits in five innings.

GIANTS 5, ANGELS 4

SAN FRANCISCO -- Buster Posey and Brandon Crawford homered, Tim Hudson pitched into the ninth and the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Angels.

Nori Aoki had two RBIs and Casey McGehee had three hits and drove in a run for the Giants, who won their fourth straight at home and eighth of 12 overall.

Albert Pujols and Mike Trout homered in the same game for the 20th time with the Angels, who have lost four of six.

Hudson (1-2) gave up three runs, two hits and two walks in eight-plus innings.

After the Angels got two runs in the ninth, Santiago Casilla came on and gave two hits but got the last out for his seventh save when Matt Joyce's grounder hit pinch-runner Taylor Featherston between first and second.

Hector Santiago (2-2) allowed four runs on nine hits in his five innings of work.

PADRES 4, ROCKIES 2

SAN DIEGO -- Brandon Morrow pitched six strong innings and Justin Upton drove in two runs as the San Diego Padres handed the Colorado Rockies their fourth straight loss.

San Diego won its second straight after losing seven of eight.

Morrow (2-0) wriggled out of a jam in the sixth, getting Nick Hundley to groundout with two on. Morrow was charged with two runs and seven hits. He struck out four.

Craig Kimbrel struck out two in a perfect ninth to earn his seventh save this season and 33rd straight overall.

Jorge De La Rosa (0-2), who lost to the Padres last month, allowed three runs on five hits and three walks, one intentional, in five innings. He struck out nine.

MARLINS 7, PHILLIES 0

MIAMI -- Martin Prado homered and drove in four runs, leading Dan Haren and the Miami Marlins over the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Marlins won for ninth time in 10 games.

Haren (3-1) gave up four hits in six innings. He walked none and struck out four.

Prado hit a three-run homer off Cole Hamels (1-3) in the second inning and added an RBI double in the sixth.

Prado is hitting .313 with two homers and nine RBIs in 67 at-bats against Hamels, who is 9-15 lifetime vs. the Marlins.

Miami second baseman Dee Gordon, who leads the major leagues with a .440 batting average, recorded his sixth consecutive multihit game. He went 3 for 3 with two walks, scored three times and stole two bases.

Gordon also took away a hit away from Carlos Ruiz with an over-the-shoulder catch running into shallow center field.

BLUE JAYS 11, INDIANS 4

CLEVELAND -- Jose Bautista drove in four runs and the Toronto Blue Jays kept reigning AL Cy Young winner Corey Kluber winless on the season.

Kluber (0-4) allowed five runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. The Indians have lost all of his six starts this season.

Bautista's two-run single in the fifth broke a 2-2 tie and Russell Martin homered in the fourth. Kluber was pulled after Kevin Pillar's leadoff double in the sixth when Toronto scored six unearned runs.

Kluber was 18-9 with a 2.44 ERA last season, earning him a five-year, $38 million contract extension. The right-hander has allowed 17 runs and 31 hits over 17 1-3 innings in his last three starts.

Aaron Sanchez (2-2) allowed two runs in 5 2-3 innings despite walking six. Martin had three hits while Edwin Encarnacion drove in two runs.

ORIOLES 4, RAYS 0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Miguel Gonzalez pitched four-hit ball into the eighth inning, Steve Pearce drove in two runs and Baltimore beat the Tampa Bay Rays in a relocated Orioles home game.

It was the second game of a three-game series that was moved from Camden Yards to Tropicana Field after rioting broke out in Baltimore following the funeral of Freddie Gray, who died in police custody after suffering a spinal cord injury.

Gonzalez (3-1) struck out six and walked one in 7 2-3 innings.

Brad Brach replaced Gonzalez with two on and two outs in the eighth and retired Steven Souza Jr. on a foul pop fly. The right-hander also pitched the ninth for his first save, completing the four-hitter.

After Chris Davis had a two-out RBI single in the third, Pearce made it 3-0 on his two-run double off Chris Archer (3-3), who had allowed just one unearned run in 26 2-3 innings over his previous four starts.

REDS 8, BRAVES 4

ATLANTA -- Jay Bruce powered two long triples, Marlon Byrd broke out of his slump and Zack Cozart had three hits to lead the Reds.

Jason Marquis (3-1) pitched effectively against the team that drafted him in 1996, going 6 1-3 innings, giving up three runs and striking out four.

Eric Stultz (1-2) tookd the loss, giving up six runs, including home runs to Byrd and Todd Frazier.

Bruce hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning and scored after his triple in the fourth. It was the first time the seven-year veteran has hit two in a game.

Byrd, who entered the game hitting .163, went 2-for-3, with a walk and the homer. He also made a diving catch in left field.

RANGERS 8, ATHLETICS 7, 10 INNINGS

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Shin-Soo Choo hit a tying three-run homer in the seventh inning and scored the winning run in the 10th to lift the Texas Rangers to victory.

Choo led off the 10th with a double down the right-field line against Ryan Cook (0-2), moved to third following two walks and scored on Rougned Odor's off R.J. Alvarez.

Rookie Keone Kela (1-1) pitched the top of the 10th to earn his first major league win as the Rangers ended a four-game losing streak.

The A's took a 7-3 lead with a six-run sixth inning that included a dead-ball single off second-base umpire Jerry Meals and a two-out, three-run home run by Josh Reddick.

Texas answered with a four-run sixth, including Choo's homer with two out.

DODGERS 6, DIAMONDBACKS 4

LOS ANGELES -- Red-hot rookie Joc Pederson hit a tying solo homer in the seventh and Howie Kendrick singled home the go-ahead run two batters later, rallying the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Justin Turner also homered for the two-time defending NL West champions, who are 14-0 when scoring four or more runs -- compared with 1-8 when they get three or fewer.

Diamondbacks right-hander Jeremy Hellickson allowed three runs and six hits over 5 1-3 innings, leaving with a 4-3 lead.

But the Dodgers pulled ahead against Evan Marshall (0-1).

Juan Nicasio (1-1) pitched three perfect innings in relief of starter Scott Baker to get the win and Chris Hatcher got three outs for his second save.
