Yasiel Puig reaches base 3 times in return from three-game hiatus

MLB, Los Angeles Dodgers

LOS ANGELES -- After missing three games with a tight left hamstring, Yasiel Puig was back in right field for the Los Angeles Dodgers for Saturday night's 6-3 win.

Puig went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Puig ran sprints for the first time Friday since pulling the muscle during Monday's game, and trainer Stan Conte came back with a positive report, as did Puig.

Upon returning to the clubhouse Saturday afternoon and reporting no discomfort, Puig was back in the starting lineup and hitting second against the Colorado Rockies.

"I'm not sure there was any more testing, but Stan came into the office early and said he was good to go," manager Don Mattingly said. "After seeing him run yesterday, I really didn't think we would have to do a DL situation. He looked pretty good yesterday."

Puig started the season with two hits in his first 17 at-bats, but he hit a home run in each of his two games before the injury, making the ailment all the more frustrating for the Dodgers.
