ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Evan Longoria will be the designated hitter for the Tampa Bay Rays, one day after getting hit on the left hip by a pitch. The third baseman got a break from playing the field in Friday night's game against the New York Yankees. He left Thursday night's game in Toronto in the eighth inning because of a bruise. "Hopefully a day and he'll be back out there," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "But he got squared up pretty good in kind of an awkward spot." Tampa Bay made a series of moves Friday. Left-handed reliever Jeff Beliveau was put on the 15-day disabled list because of a sore shoulder and outfielder Mikie Mahtook was optioned to Triple-A Durham. Left-hander C.J. Riefenhauser and infielder Ryan Brett were both recalled from Durham.
