Didi Gregorius sprains wrist

MLB, New York Yankees

TAMPA, Fla. -- New York Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius sprained his left wrist going for a ground ball in a spring training game and has been taken out for precautionary reasons.

Gregorius hurt himself Saturday when he awkwardly landed going for the grounder in the second inning against the Baltimore Orioles. He was checked out by trainers, stayed in the game for a while and left after the fourth.

The Yankees said Gregorius would have precautionary X-rays.

Gregorius was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a trade in December. He is taking over the spot held by retired captain Derek Jeter.
