LEADING OFF: Utley ready to play, pink eye blurs Brewers

MLB, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, Miami Marlins, Texas Rangers

A look at the highlights of what's happening all around spring training in Florida and Arizona on Friday:

---

HEALTH CHASE

Phillies second baseman Chase Utley could make his spring debut, likely as the designated hitter against Tampa Bay. At 36, the six-time All-Star has been recovering from a sprained right ankle.

EYE WON'T PLAY

A rash of pink eye has struck the Milwaukee Brewers, with catcher Jonathan Lucroy the latest victim. They'll try to cut down on spreading the highly contagious condition by avoiding high-fives in the dugout during the game vs. Seattle.

LUCKY DAY?

This is the only Friday the 13th for players this year. Maybe it'll turn out well for Baltimore star catcher Matt Wieters. Coming back from Tommy John surgery, he's 0 for 20 this spring, all as a designated hitter.

BETTER LATE THAN NO LATOS

Mat Latos makes his Grapefruit League debut for Miami, facing St. Louis. The Marlins got Latos in an offseason trade after his injury-plagued season with Cincinnati.

NOT AGAIN!

Texas hopes for the best after seeing yet another pitcher injured this spring. Anthony Ranaudo walked off the mound Thursday after feeling a twinge in his right arm. Yu Darvish, Derek Holland and Tanner Scheppers already have been hurt.
