Mike Minor to visit Dr. Andrews

Atlanta Braves pitcher Mike Minor, who was scratched from his scheduled start on Sunday after experiencing tightness in his left shoulder, will visit Dr. James Andrews as soon as Monday, manager Fredi Gonzalez told reporters Thursday.

"It kind of came from out of the blue,'' general manager Dave Hart said of the injury when it occurred. "Last year he started when he might not have been ready. Where it goes from here, I'm not real sure.''

Minor, who went 6-12 with a 4.77 ERA for the Braves last season, missed most of 2014 spring training with a groin injury but came back to start 25 games. However, the pitcher admitted after the season that he battled through discomfort in the shoulder area although MRI exams didn't indicate any structural problems.

The 27-year-old left-hander won his salary-arbitration case against the Braves this offseason and was awarded a raise from $3.85 million to his $5.6 million request rather than the Braves' $5.1 million offer.

Minor went 13-9 with a 3.21 ERA in 2013.
