Dodgers sign RHP Mike Adams

MLB, Los Angeles Dodgers

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to stockpile high-upside pitchers with lengthy injury histories, adding right-handed reliever Mike Adams on a minor-league deal Sunday.

Adams, 36, missed three months last season with a rotator cuff injury in his right shoulder. He has had multiple shoulder surgeries and procedures to repair a sports hernia and to relieve thoracic outlet syndrome over his career.

Adams has a 2.41 career ERA in 10 seasons, most recently with the Philadelphia Phillies.

"You know if he's healthy, he's good," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "It's just a matter of being able to watch his bullpens, see how the ball's coming out. It's not like, 'Can he pitch or not?' It's just a matter of, 'Is he healthy?'"

Just in the last few weeks, the Dodgers have added several veteran pitchers coming off injuries, including Sergio Santos, David Aardsma, Chad Gaudin, Erik Bedard, Brandon Beachy and Dustin McGowan. They're also relying on two injury risks at the back of their rotation in Brandon McCarthy and Brett Anderson.
