Jeremy Hellickson avoids arbitration

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks have avoided arbitration with right-hander Jeremy Hellickson, agreeing to a one-year contract for $4,275,000.

The Diamondbacks acquired Hellickson in an offseason trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Hellickson, the 2011 AL Rookie of the Year, spent most of last season on the disabled list. He was 1-5 with a 4.52 ERA and made $3,625,000. He has a 43-36 career record with a 3.75 ERA.

Outfielder Mark Trumbo and reliever Addison Reed swapped proposed arbitration figures. Trumbo asked for a raise from $4.8 million to $6.9 million, and the Diamondbacks offered $5.3 million. Reed, in arbitration for the first time, asked for $5.65 million and was offered $4.7 million.
