Rays offer contracts to Cobb, 5 others

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays have offered contracts for next season to all six of their arbitration-eligible players, including pitchers Alex Cobb, Jake McGee and Drew Smyly.

The team also made the offers before Tuesday's deadline to infielder Logan Forsythe and outfielders Desmond Jennings and Matt Joyce.

Cobb was 10-9 with 2.87 ERA in 23 starts this year, and McGee was 5-2 with 1.89 ERA in 73 relief appearances. Smyly was 3-1 with a 1.70 ERA in five starts and two relief appearances after he was obtained from Detroit in the David Price trade.

Jennings batted .244 with 10 homers and 36 RBIS last season. Joyce hit .254 with nine homers and 52 RBIs, while Forsythe batted .223 with six homers and 26 RBIs.
