Ah, the late-season marquee matchup between two teams with playoff hopes. Does it get any better for a regular-season game? We're talking Gibson versus Marichal. Seaver versus Carlton. Pedro versus Clemens ... and now Bumgarner versus Greinke?
OK, so Tuesday night's pitching matchup between the San Francisco Giants' Madison Bumgarner and the Los Angeles Dodgers' Zack Greinke (10 ET, ESPN and WatchESPN) doesn't have the same ring to it as those first three matchups, but with both pitchers ranking in the top 10 in the NL in WAR, and given the importance of these final-week games, it certainly qualifies as a top head-to-head matchup this season, and faceoffs between baseball's top pitchers don't come along as often as commonly believed.
