Van Slyke leaves game with 'mild' ankle sprain

PHOENIX -- Los Angeles Dodgers left fielder Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday night's game against Arizona with what the team called a mild right ankle sprain.

Van Slyke was hurt in the fourth inning when he planted his foot to throw the ball to the infield after Jordan Pacheco's base hit. Van Slyke doubled over in pain for a moment, then was able to get to his feet and walk off.

He was charged with an error on the play, and an unearned run scored off Clayton Kershaw.

Van Slyke homered earlier in the game, his fifth home run off Wade Miley in 18 at-bats this season.

Carl Crawford replaced Van Slyke in left field.
