Alfredo Simon, 3 others in ASG

MLB, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres

Cincinnati Reds right-hander Alfredo Simon was among four pitchers added to the National League team for Tuesday's All-Star Game.

San Francisco Giants right-handed pitcher Tim Hudson, San Diego Padres closer Huston Street and Washington Nationals right-handed reliever Tyler Clippard were also added.

Simon replaces teammate Johnny Cueto, while Clippard replaces Atlanta Braves starter Julio Teheran. Street replaces Padres teammate Tyson Ross and Hudson replaces Giants teammate Madison Bumgarner. Cueto, Teheran, Ross and Bumgarner all started games on Sunday.

Simon (12-3), who was the first NL pitcher to reach 12 wins, is tied with St. Louis' Adam Wainwright for the league lead.

Simon joins fellow Reds right-hander Cueto, left-hander Aroldis Chapman, third baseman Todd Frazier and catcher Devin Mesoraco on the NL team.

This is Simon's first All-Star Game. It will be Clippard's second All-Star appearance.

The previous time the Reds had as many as five All-Stars was in 1991 -- pitchers Tom Browning and Rob Dibble, shortstop Barry Larkin, right fielder Paul O'Neill and third baseman Chris Sabo.
