Brewers to activate LHP Gorzelanny from DL

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Tom Gorzelanny will be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.

Manager Ron Roenicke said Gorzelanny has shown good command during a minor league rehab assignment. The 31-year-old began the season on the disabled list following offseason shoulder surgery.

The Brewers announced after the 6-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night that utilityman Elian Herrera was also returning to the team Saturday from Triple-A Nashville.

To make room, infielder Irving Falu and outfielder Logan Schafer were demoted to Triple-A. Falu went 0 for 3 Friday night against Cincinnati, while Schafer had a pinch-hit single and scored a run.

Schafer, a good defensive player, was hitting .190 while playing sparingly as the team's fourth outfielder. Roenicke said he hoped Schafer would benefit from getting consistent at-bats in the minors.

The moves will leave the Brewers with a four-man bench, and Roenicke said Herrera was brought up because his versatility gave the team better coverage all over the field.
