Marlins place Jacob Turner on DL

The Miami Marlins placed pitcher Jacob Turner on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder.

The Marlins made the move Wednesday, recalling right-hander Arquimedes Caminero from Triple-A New Orleans to replace Turner on the roster.

Turner strained his pitching shoulder during batting practice Tuesday and will miss his scheduled start Wednesday against the Washington Nationals.

Marlins manager Mike Redmond said after Tuesday's loss to the Nationals that Turner would be replaced in the second game of the series by left-hander Brad Hand, who has been in the bullpen.

Turner, 22, posted a 3.74 ERA last year but struggled in his season debut last Thursday against the Colorado Rockies, allowing five runs in six innings.
