Even with Danks done for the year, I still see a rotation of Peavy, Sale, Quintana, Floyd, Humber, and Liriano 3 lefties and 3 righties to handle the month of August before Sept. 1 when the Sox can expand the rosters with more young arms from the minors. So pitching looks very good for the Sox, their total KO's to innings is very good. The Sox are armed and ready for the stretch as Detroit enters the toughest part of their schedule. Sale now can have some rest, he's earned it.

Why are we so protective of Sale and yet dont seem to give the same caution to Quintana ? Are they not in similar boats with great rookie seasons ?

Quintana will get a rest when Sale gets back, now that another lefty has been added to their 6 man rotation. They all will get a rest before the playoffs.

Sale is not sore, he's just tired.

Rest him up! I couldn't care less about winning the division this year when it's compared to taking care of Sale, the kid is the future cornerstone of this franchise and has Cy Young tattooed on his forehead, and his risk for injury goes way up the more tired he gets, so if you have to sit him until the playoffs then that's what you do!

It's not easy to win a division. If you can win one now, you do it. Their focus is both: win the division, and give Sale a chance to rest. They can now afford to do that with Liriano in the rotation.

Take care of Sale - no matter what that entails. Sounds like they're doing a good job, but you can't be too careful with a 23-year old ace who has the potential to be the best in the game. The 2012 postseason is not worth risking a an injury to someone who could help you immensely for the next 5-10 years.

The Sox need to rest Sale at least 2 games. Let that arm get some strength back. It was well shown in Texas when his fastball was at a max of 87/88 mph. Go Sox and hopefully Liriano can get us a win Tuesday night.

Keystone Kops. Ventura is really bad at this job. He's already showcasing the 'clever' style of managing - like he's going to outsmart everyone around him. Even today with him putting Beckham in the lead off spot. De Aza needs a day off, just put in Danks for De Aza in the field and in the lineup. Danks is a fast runner and a lefty. But I'm sure Ventura does not want to put 'pressure' on Danks. Stupid. Well, maybe they should have tried letting Sale pitch on an actual 5 day schedule instead of shuffling the rotation around to make sure Sale and Peavy face as many of the other team's aces as possible, giving Sale 6, 7, and 8 days off between starts inconsistently, and not let Sale throw so many pitches per outing. Oh wait, I forgot this is a baseball and a White Sox chat board so I must be the devil for suggesting that the Sox are in 1st place because of the players on the team and not because of the manager in the dugout. After all, the common mantra these days is when teams win the manager should be credited but when they lose the players should be credited. Sure, RV has done well to get the team ready to play, but when it comes to game time Ventura is a commodity.

blackbrown should be the manager and bradsby should be the GM for the White Sox. They'd go 162-0 and win the World Series every season.

First off, Beckham has been hitting like .180 or something in July (mostly since he dropped down to the 9 spot after the Sox got Youk) so he clearly needs something to give him a jump start. I don't think it has anything to do with Danks, especially because he has been playing this much after being brought up. It's easy to look back and say, "yeah, Ventura should have pulled him after he was at, say 100 pitches in the game," but in any given situation, if you have a starting pitcher who is pitching well and you can give your bullpen a night off, every manager in the league would go with the starter. You never know when you are going to need your bullpen. And to your point about who gets credit/blame for wins and losses, why do you think Ozzie is in Miami?? They weren't winning, so Kenny sent him on his way! Even though Dunn hit like .100! Ultimately, the manager gets the credit for the wins, blame for the losses, whether that is earned or not. But you can't discount the fact that they are playing this well with so many rookie pitchers and having Rios and Dunn with such turnaround seasons that they have been having. Haters gon hate.
