I think this velocity drop off will help him in the end. I have watched baseball since I was little, and I am no expert. I will say that so many pitchers who throw hard never learn to pitch because they just gas everyone. At the end, when they cannot do that, they fall off fast and leave the game because they do not know how to pitch. Lincecum is having to pitch like a mere mortal, and that is good. If his velocity does come back, the rest of the league will have to settle for second because now he is becoming a pitcher. If not, he will be an okay pitcher, or maybe he will become the next knuckleballer.

Great to get some done to earth information from Tim and some interesting info. Professional athletics is a dream gig- but being in the front of a huge, passionate fan base, as well as media, coaches, general managers, teammates, and family EVERY time you go to work is most definitely a challenge. How many of us would want to be in the spotlight EVERY time we go to work and have everything we do scrutinized by so called experts? The price of fame and fortune can be extremely challenging- especially for young athletes. Maybe Tim can hang out with Pablo. Tim get's to eat what Pablo orders, Pablo eat's whatever Timmy orders up. LOL!

Did you just crawl out from under a rock? Lincecum was only the first player in MLB history to win 2 Cy Young awards in his first 2 years...but you're probably a naive Dodgers fan.

The pot references never grow old. I guess everyone who posts them figures they've found comedy gold and have to share it because it's too good not to.

I kind of think, the Giants may have seen something like this coming, that's why they signed Cain to that huge contract.

He's too short to be a starting pitcher in MLB. It requires so much energy and wear on the joints to continue pounding his ligaments and tendons night after night for 6 or 7, or 8 innings. Bigger guys can bring the heat with less wear for longer. It's basic physics. I'd consider moving Tim to the bullpen.

Just to name a few great pitchers who were small framed: Roy Oswalt, Billy Wagner, Fernando Valenzuela, and Pedro Martinez.

the thing about todays starting pitchers is there not out there day after day its once a week (every 5 games) that they will throw around 120 game pitches plus another 50 or so for warming up.

Were any of the trainers concerned about Lincecum's rapid weight changes? You would think a team would consider its members as investments, worthy of protection.
