NEW YORK -- New York Mets left fielder Jason Bay was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list Saturday after leaving Friday night's game against the Cincinnati Reds following his crash into t... Read full story
The reason why he gets a free pass: the media that year espn radio and particularly wfan, joe and mike and evan the mets station were going nuts that the mets hadn't signed anyone at that point and the mets were forced to sign someone and he was the best available that late in the game -- smart people knew it was bad but those yahoos liked it and that is why they stay away from it and the papers etc feed stories off these guys it's interconnected. 339 Days ago

He is the biggest flop in New York sports history and he gets free pass after pass. I wonder why? (he is white) Met fans still rail on Bonilla and Bay wishes he had the numbers he put up. 340 Days ago

You must not of heard met fans booing him after he hit the wall.....Hes got no free pass, I think Met fan has had enough of him and the best thing for the Team to do, is not bring him back. Maybe he will read the writing on the wall and "retire" 339 Days ago

Bonilla had alot of talent but never lived up to his past achievements while on the Mets. Jason Bay was a second tier talent on the Pirates, who over achieved for a short time on the Red Sox (thank you Fenway Park). Why the Mets gave him so much money is a mystery I'll never understand. Maybe the general manager had a concussion. The only color that effects this topic is "green" as in the amount of money. If Jason Bay had been signed at the level of his talent, no way most fans would be so annoyed at him.
It seems the New York Mets is where Pirate prospects go to die, or at least stink so much you think they are dead. Oliver Perez is the one that ticked me off the most. One of my favorite old-time Pirates that stunk as a Met was Richie Hebner, whose claim to fame was that he was a grave-digger in the off season. Maybe the Mets can hire Hebner to bury Jason Bay, or at least his contract. 340 Days ago

Just release him already! Bring up a kid to take his place. Jason Bay is an overrated ball player that benefited from hitting in a ball park made for fly ball hitters. This was a Minaya blunder like a lot of the others. Release him and bring up a prospect to get him some at bats in the majors. Jason Bay is the most overpaid and worthless OF in the league. Talk about earning a pay check. He hasn't earned a dollar of that money given to him. 341 Days ago

Hate to see this with Bay. Hasn't he had a previous concussion? Have to wonder if this might be it for him. Sorry for him. Class guy. 341 Days ago

I hope this is the last we see of Mr. Bay. What's the news on "Whitestone" Mike Baxter? I would not mind him and Hairston as the LF platoon. Kirk should play CF everyday. 341 Days ago

The Bay experiment was a bust almost from the beginning-he's NEVER hit in NY, period. Can't play- let him go- As far as Manny , why not?? They can sign him cheap, and only if he produces-if he doesn't nothing lost- But he must might help alot- ;) Least give him a shot-- nothing to lose= 341 Days ago

As a met fan I am fed up with bay and his lack of production. But on the flip side, I feel bad for the guy. He tries his best every night out and has seemed uncomfortable since the day he put on a mets uniform. If he does come back, lets keep him as an everyday pinch hitter off the bench. I like kirk, duda, and hairston as my starting OF'S 341 Days ago

Hairston is nothing more than a pinch hitter / lefty sub. Why do you think he has bounced around so much? Bay will never pinch hit b/c they are paying him way too much for that. As much as I dislike bay, i was rooting for him if only because we have no replacement 341 Days ago

I completely understand why Mets fans want this guy gone. Good luck Bay, it's got to be difficult with lack of production combined with bad luck, while getting paid like a superstar. 341 Days ago
