Have we gotten soooooooooooo desperate for sports stories in this town that already we are questioning this guy????? He has been on the job for less than a year!!! And how many of you "reporters/writers" demanded the Cubs dismantle the team and start from scratch, and now that it is happening are condemning the guy doing it. This is non-sense and nothing to report on until 2 years from now.

I honestly cannot believe the incompetency level of some people posting, and actually agreeing with this "article". It's unreal - absolutely unreal and ridiculous. GET A CLUE

I liked the article. The "Cubs Way" is just an excuse so the teabagging owner doesn't have to spend any money on the team. And the sheep, I mean the fans are eating all this up. Keep going to the games fans. Keep drinking that $8.50 a cup beer to see a Double A team. Yum

He just spent $30 million on Jorge Soler. He's also building a brand new pre season facility in Mesa,Arizona. Not to mention the one they are building in the Dominican Republic. Where would you like the owner to spend ? Who would you like the owner to get?

That is ridiculous. How can Greenberg say that the cubs can't afford to be patient? They haven't won anything in over 100 years. If you want things done right it's going to take some time. Think before you blog please.

Is there any other sports websites that don't have horrible writers like this one?

Good posts cubs fans! Greenberg is off the mark. We are luck to have Theo making decisions for our club. We are unlucky to have this writer. Let's not waste more money on big contracts, let's build from within and be a perennial contender. Since the farm system for the evil St. Louis Cardinals? They're stacked! This is why Epstein runs the cubs, and why Greenberg just writes for the cubs. We may be in for a rough year this year and the next, but we are the best fans in the world. We can deal with it. Obviously Greenberg doesn't know that. I wish we had a writer that was an actual cubs fan. No matter what he says, this writer isn't a cubs fan and doesn't care about the cubs fans. I will give you one more try Jon, but this article has found your writing and perspective wanting.

He is still getting used to Chicago and has signed some free agents(Soler, Concepcion, Dejesus) and has traded for rebuilding pieces(Rizzo, Stewart). That's an action packed first year for me. Not to mention Garza or Dempster or maybe both will probably be gone by the trade deadline. Relax and stay patient for our farm system to grow and by 2015-16 we will be NL Central Champions.

Stewart? As in Ian Stewart? Is there another player the Cubs have picked up named Stweart because Ian is not a rebuilding piece.

Greenberg, You "tuned him out?" The guy you were interviewing? Sure you did. Big-timing an interviewee. What a crock. Add that to the contradictions in your piece and you're quite the hack.

The moves Epstein is making are possibly the only moves he "should" make. This Cub team was and is still loaded with ridiculously bad contracts. Not much any team could do until you move those bad deals from the roster. I'm sure you will see some free agents added down the road but right now the Cubs don't have enough talent to warrant big FA spending.

Either I read things wrong in this article or Greenberg at one point criticized Theo for signing big name free agents towards the end of his tenure in Boston then criticized him for building a farm system for the future with the Cubs instead of signing big name free agents. Clearly in Greenberg's eyes there is no correct way to build a baseball team.

Jon Greenberg is an absolute $@% clown. So he gave Theo less than half a season to rebuild? Wow, what a fool.

Hacks like Jon Greenberg are partly responsible for the bad century the Cubs just endured. Trade away all your young players for aging, overpriced players just to make pimple faced, journalism majors happy. How has that turned out? Jon, go back to writing semi-articulate basketball articles and leave the heavy lifting to Theo, Jed, & Jason. Good night now!
