When Los Angeles Dodgers starter Chris Capuano stares in for the sign from catcher A.J. Ellis and they decide whether to go with the fastball, changeup or curve, an additional, subconscious thought f... Read full story
The Dodgers are playing baseball the right way simple as that... They also are riding the confidence from their early success even though Kemp isnt in the lineup he is still out there cheering on his team he is a true leader 352 Days ago

Cappy and Aj Ellis have been wonderful for the dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully they can keep playing this well for us in the second half of the season! 352 Days ago

The Dodgers played well today and this series, but its funny that ESPN puts that picture of Cole Hamels up, but they won't say that he was safe at home when that play happened. 352 Days ago

what's really funny is that the national media praises Mattingly when in fact he has been an awful manager and the Dodgers are in first in spite of him. Then again, the national media always praised Torre...and he was awful, as well. They don't watch the games. 352 Days ago

DODGERS are rolling right now, IDK about all u other GO Blue fans, but this team reminds me more and more of the 1988 team. 352 Days ago

they have rolled for this series, but all that does is break even for the 4-game sweep they gave up last week to the Brewers. 352 Days ago

For people who say, "The Dodgers have the best record for now, but..." I say this:
You don't have to have a line loaded with big names to win. You have to have good pitching (check), string together hits (check), good defense (check), and good bullpen (check). You can win without the conventional big hit. Dodgers have speed and can put rallies together and so on. With good pitching, they can keep it together. As much as I hate them, the Giants won the World Series with good pitching and a lot of role players - they didn't have that bit hitter.
Capuano has always been a good pitcher, he's finally healthy. The rotation maybe doesn't have those aces at the top, but the back end is better than a lot of teams' #3 - #5.
Young guys have been stepping it up, and perhaps Herrera will turn out to be someone in three years who we look back and say, yeah, he looked great when he was called up in 2012. 352 Days ago

The Dodgers have been winning enough in spite of Mattingly, but they havent been too great since their 9-1 start. There is a reason the Giants keep getting closer, it's because the Dodgers arent winning enough...some people are high all of a sudden because they swept a relatively weak Phillies team, but they forget that they just got swept in a 4 game series by a relatively weak Brewers team last week. If the Dodgers are going to maintain their lead, Mattingly needs to take his head out of his $@% and start managing. He just plays the matchup game and is in love with Kennedy (who sucks) for some reason. Mattingly is going to kill the Dodgers if he keeps that up. 352 Days ago

They also swept the cards and the nats. Sly is obviously stupid when it comes to baseball. Best record in baseball with some patchwork fill in effort doesnt make Mattingly a good manager....PLEASE. Learn baseball before you speak 351 Days ago

I think Donny Baseball is doing a great job. The team believes in him. Saying the the Dodgers are 16 games over .500 despite Don appears improbable. Teams get hot and cold. That is why they play 162 games. 352 Days ago

Great article Jerry! Capuano and Ellis have two of the biggest surprises this year. I've also been impressed with the start Elian Herrera's had so far 352 Days ago
tadgoff12
Capuano is a surprise but Ellis has done the same thing that he did last year as far as getting on base. He has a great eye and doesn't mind hitting when he's behind in the count. He should have caught 100 games last year with Rod catching the other 62. Instead they picked Rod to catch the majority of the games and Ellis was wasted. 351 Days ago

The entire organization deserves a game ball for the record so far considering the ownership chaos they endured with all the distractions up until recently. They are a mentally tough and admirable group. I just jumped ship as a Mets fan to the Blules Clues. 352 Days ago

Incredibly happy for my long time friend AJ. This couldn't be happening to a better person. He is a tremendous person and even harder worker. Glad things are working out for him. Still remember talking with him up at our former high school and local Y during off seasons. 352 Days ago

Hey, ESPN, take Magic Johnson's d*** out of your mouth and start telling the REAL story.
Y'know, the one that explains the truth behind LA's hot start. They've played exactly FIVE series and 15 games against teams with winning recordsthe Pirates, the Cardinals, the Giants, the Braves and the Nats. And the Bucs, Cardinals and Giants were all struggling badly when they faced LA. 352 Days ago

you do have a point, as they've lost a considerable amount of their lead in the west recently...at least jerry did acknowledge that capuano has gotten absolutely SHELLED his last 2 starts (although i do admit they were at coors and citizens bank).....and ellis is hitting .214 with 5 k'sthru the first 6 days of June, his AB's recently have not looked nearly as good .....2 weeks too late on this article 352 Days ago
