Francesco Molinari has withdrawn from Italy's Olympic team due to family reasons.
The two-time Ryder Cup winner was in the field for Rio alongside compatriot Nino Bertasio. Matteo Manassero is next in line for qualification.
"Unfortunately I have decided to withdraw from the Italian Olympic team due to family reasons," said Molinari in a statement on his Instagram account.
"I am very disappointed to miss out on golf's return to the Olympics, however, I am confident that Matteo [Manassero] will do a fantastic job in my place."
Molinari is the latest golfer to decide not to compete in Rio, with the world's top four -- Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy -- among more than 20 male players to have already withdrawn.
