Woods to team up with Kuchar

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Tiger Woods has committed to play in the Bridgestone America's Cup in October, an event he had hoped to play last year but withdrew from due to his back issues.

Woods will partner with fellow American Matt Kuchar in the team tournament that is part of the PGA Tour LatinoAmerica, a developmental circuit. Last year's inaugural event was played in Argentina and the 2015 tournament, Oct. 22-25, will be staged at a venue to be determined in Mexico.

The tournament has a 36-team field and a purse of $650,000 although both Woods and Kuchar can be expected to be paid for their appearances.

Woods, who has played just once since missing the cut at the PGA Championship in August in an injury-plagued season, is making his 2015 debut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
