Billy Horschel, Martin Kaymer, Rory McIlroy, Jimmy Walker and Bubba Watson have been nominated for the Jack Nicklaus Award, annually given to the PGA Tour's player of the year.
With two majors victories and three wins overall on the U.S.-based circuit, McIlroy is the overwhelming favorite to take home the honor now that the 2013-14 season wrapped up at the Tour Championship on Sunday.
Horschel won the FedEx Cup playoffs on Sunday while Kaymer (U.S. Open) and Watson (the Masters) brought home the other two majors that McIlroy didn't win.
Balloting for the award, which is done solely by PGA Tour members who played in at least 15 events last season, will close at 5 p.m. ET on Sept. 25. The winner will be announced the week of Sept. 28.
The PGA Tour also announced that Victor Dubuisson, Chesson Hadley and Brooks Koepka are on the ballot for rookie of the year honors.
