Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar may team

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Tiger Woods may team with Matt Kuchar for the United States as part of a new team event to be played in Argentina this fall, according to several Spanish-language news outlets in South America.

Mark Steinberg, agent for both players, confirmed Sunday that discussions are taking place for the Oct. 21-26 event called the Americas Cup that has a yet-to-be determined format.

"I'm working on it," Steinberg said Sunday at Augusta National, where Kuchar finished tied for fifth at the Masters. "There's several things being discussed, and I would say it's likely but we are trying to put something together."

Woods missed the Masters for the first time in 20 years due to surgery to alleviate a pinched nerve in his back that occurred on March 31. There is no timetable for his return and Steinberg did not provide an update. When the surgery was announced, Woods said the hope was to return sometime this summer.

The new tournament is scheduled for the second week of the 2014-15 PGA Tour season.

Woods has not played since shooting a final-round 78 at the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral on March 9.
