LONDON -- Spanish player David Ferrer has withdrawn from Wimbledon because of an elbow injury.
Wimbledon says the eighth-seeded Ferrer will be replaced in the draw by Luca Vanni of Italy.
Ferrer, who had been scheduled to face British wild-card entry James Ward in the first round, has never won a major title. He reached the French Open final in 2013, losing to Rafael Nadal.
