Once again, Serena proves she doesn't have to win pretty to win. That's the mark of a player. Kudos again to her opponent. Shvedova, like Zheng did not wilt. Serena had to win the match, which is much better than having your opponent lose it. Like with Tiger, maybe the other players don't fear her as much. Unlike with Tiger, Serena can bring it back at the end. I have nothing against Sharapova. Unlike that waste of court time Kournikova, Sharapova was a tennis player first. She also seems to have a good head and attitude. Still, it does loosen up the draw her losing. Lisicki was impressive. Same as with Serena, the rest of the field is not intimidated by Sharapova like maybe they once were.

Thank God I have directv, can see all six game. Kvitova/Fran was the only one still playing after the rain came. The other players are just now coming back on court. I watch everything they do to stop SERENA from that FINAL!!!!! This is amazing to watch.

Also, it is interesting that the matches with Kirilenko and Williams continued play the whole time. Each is a part of the doubles match that has a final set to complete. They probably didn't want to be doubly stuck in the rain.
