Haloti Ngata back from suspension

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Defensive tackle Haloti Ngata reported back to the Baltimore Ravens in "good shape" on Monday after serving his four-game suspension and will be activated for Saturday's playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, coach John Harbaugh said.

"His weight is good," Harbaugh said. "He's been training really hard from what he told me and he looks that way."

Ngata, a five-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman, was disciplined by the NFL after violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. He said the suspension was the result of using Adderall, which is often used in the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

The Ravens went 3-1 in Ngata's absence and allowed an average of 94.2 yards rushing per game (10th fewest).

"I think he's really appreciative of the opportunity to come back and make a little statement here in the postseason," Harbaugh said.

Ngata's return is timely because his replacement, rookie second-round pick Timmy Jernigan, hurt his foot Sunday and was carted off the field. Harbaugh said Jernigan's injury isn't a season-ending one.

"There's an opportunity for him to be back Saturday night," Harbaugh said of Jernigan. "It'll be close. It'll be tough. If he responds really well in the next two days, he actually could get back and play."
