Divine Oath tries to bounce back

Let's Go Stable's Divine Oath looks to get back on track Sept. 20 in the $150,000 Kent Stakes at Delaware Park, coming off a sixth-place finish in the Aug. 16 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington International Racecourse.

The lackluster effort from the 3-year-old son of Broken Vow came after he took the July 12 American Derby at Arlington with a good late move. The American Derby was his third score this year along with a maiden and allowance win garnered earlier in the season for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Jose Caraballo gets the mount from the inside aboard Divine Oath, who carries 120 pounds in the 1 ⅛-mile turf test.

Others who should factor in the field of seven sophomores include Cabo Cat and Bashart.

Lee Lewis' Cabo Cat, a homebred son of Kitten's Joy trained by Mark Hennig, comes off a third in the Sept. 1 Saranac Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. Winner of the June 28 Manila Stakes going a mile at Belmont Park, he seeks his first graded victory.

Bashart, Rosedown Racing's War Front homebred, was fourth in the Saranac in his first start for trainer Michael Matz. His most recent victory came as a 2-year-old when he notched the With Anticipation at Saratoga while trained by Pletcher.

Completing the field are minor stakes winners Lafontaine and Craftsman, along with allowance winner Gadget Man and maiden winner Other Cheek.
