There's still over two months left in the 2014 fantasy baseball season, but as a prospect writer, I think it's never too early to think about next year -- or further -- so I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at the best of each position for the 2015 season and beyond.
First up: catchers. Catchers are often thought of as the have and have-nots of the fantasy world. If you don't have an elite one like Buster Posey or Yadier Molina, you're better off not wasting a high draft pick on them. Several similar options will be available in the middle to late rounds.
"It's sort of a weird position," a former scouting director said. "Because there's so much wear and tear from playing catcher 120-130 games a year, you usually move the best bats over to first base, or if they're athletic enough you move them to the outfield to up the value a bit.
"Every once in a while you get a guy like Buster Posey or Yadier Molina, though, and when you get those guys, they're very, very valuable. There's a reason why anytime you have a catcher among the offensive leaders, you consider him for MVP."
While there doesn't appear to be a Molina or Posey in the minor leagues right now, there are several backstop prospects who have a chance to be quality starters for your fantasy club.
