LeBron James and the end of all that
By Kevin Arnovitz
Jun 21, 2012 11:49 PM

I’d been quietly pulling for the Miami Heat to win the title since April -- and not because I find LeBron James to be sympathetic or because I like the Heat’s brand of basketball or even because I have a lingering attachment to the Heat after covering them in Miami during the 2010-11 s...

Honestly Leborn deserved it. The way he played this season tells all of how bad he wanted it. It's sad that people can't get rid of their haterade, and recognize real raw talent. They let their hate precede everything else.

I saw better all-around teams. They were just athletic enough for the schedule.

No matter what you write in the little ESPN conversation box, the truth is this: The Heat are the best team that money can buy, similar to the Yankees. Lebron constantly speaks in the language of I, Me, My. I live in Cleveland but I am not a Cavs fan and he is severely deformed in the way he sees himself. $@%!$ all you want about this statement, but the Bulls would have been a much more formidable opponent than the AARP Celtics. Derek Rose, Noah and Gibson all out and the Bulls were two free throws from going to Game 7. Lebron may have all the stats that compare him to Michael and Magic and Kobe, but he has the class of MJ's lint in his sock. Not to mention, Michael needs two hands to hold his rings.

Who actually got an education? Lebron? Uh nope. Who played with the same team his whole career and had some loyalty? Lebron? Uh nope. Who didn't air their decision to snub their nose at a city that adored him? Lebron? Uh nope. Who's Mom turned down illegal money when their son was in high school? Lebron's? Nope Yeah, alot of class there.....

Class and education have little to do with one another. If staying with the same team your whole career is a requirement for your respect then that means you don't respect Shaq, KG, Ray Allen, CP3, Kobe, Deron Williams, Derek Fisher and the other 80% of the NBA that has gone from team to team by either choice or trade, but increasingly by choice. The decision was a mistake, and one he's admitted to and apologized for. YOU'RE the one without class if you can't forgive a man his mistakes. And how is he responsible for his mother?

if the heat players took the max money they could get and didn't settle for less you could add another 15 million to the Heats books!

Dude if you wanna talk about Class the MJ is at the bottom of the totem pole...Did you hear is hall of fame speach. He punches teammates in practice, he is a way more selfish ball player the Bron. The man has the biggest ego of ALL TIME, and rightfully so. But when it comes to class, he is far from the top of the list

Because he knows he wasn't good enough to do it without a beefed up paid team. So sad, win a real one is all I can say.

Great article. The only flaw is expecting the anti-LeBron crowd to cut out the tiresome nonsense for even a moment and give the guy his due. They weren't argued into the irrational hatred in the first place, so don't expect this performance and this title to argue them out of it.

This person is trying to seem as though they are unbiased and reasonable, but truth is the haters (including myself) have a valid point. It was a bought title by a sellout of a man. Sure he can hold the trophy but look at your cast. In the end his pride will hurt more. Had he done it in Cleveland he could have been probably the most liked and respected player of all time because of such an accomplishment. Now instead he's ridiculed for good reason because he had to join Wade's Heat to do it.

It's the free-agency era, people. Has been for years. Players play out their contracts and (gasp!) they have the right to pick where they want to play. Sorry the days of indentured servitude in professional sports are over.

Yeah, he's the first 26-year-old in human history to make an error in judgment. He should have been summarily executed, you're right.

Anyone who says LeBron is an ego maniac knows NOTHING about sports and how these things work. BTW - MJ AND KOBE are by far WAY more ego maniacal than LeBron will ever be. 13 assists? This guy is the epitome of a leader and a team mate.

When you step back and look at the two years this Heat team has been together, the criticism seems ridiculous. This team has gone 104-44 in the regular season, steamrolled through the finals in 2011 before eventually losing to the Mavericks, and now they have a championship after beating a really good Thunder team in five games. If the Heat never win another title, this was still a remarkably successful experiment.

I'm on the same boat. There is no denying LeBron's talent. He's earned the MVP award and now the championship. Good for him. I still don't like him simply because he's an egomaniac. I'm hoping that getting over the hump will help him mature.

No it was stupid and I was glad to see the Mavericks win last year. But after that, Lebron just seemed to say all the right things and he proved it on the court so finally I can appreciate the player he is and say it's about time.

Lebron left Cleveland (Apologized for it later, and donated all of the money to charity) Kobe raped somebody, and may be the most arrogant player in the league Jordan's excesive gambling may or may not have caused him to leave the league, but it also caused the death of his own father.
