Endorsements lucrative for Gabby Douglas
By Darren Rovell

Any sponsor who wanted to associate themselves with American gymnasts during the Olympic Games identified Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin and Jordyn Wieber as ideal endorsers. But Johnson's comeback fell short, Liukin failed to qualify for the Games and Wieber didn't make the All-Around competition. B...

Not for nothing, but it can happen in other capitalist countries as well, not only in America.

The dynamic in our country is so interesting. We're indeed a "melting pot", so racism is a part of who we are. We all don't look the same or have the same history prior to our existence in this country. That said, I look forward to catching China in total medal count as an American. Regardless of who wins them, as long as they rock those 3 colors (red, white, and blue). Do we think the Chinese are bickering on message boards about who deserves endorsements and doesn't? I doubt it, probably just celebrating the fact that China is #1 in count right now. Celebrate this young AMERICAN gold medal winning woman!

Cha-Ching!!! She could be purple, blue or pink and she's going to make big cake after winning the all-around gold. Most people in America are not racists, its just the few loudmouths that make it seem that way. Saying that she finished last and next to last in 2 events is going to overshadow her gold medal performances is being a hater. Nothing to do with "disagreeing".

In America, we are culturally conditioned to believe White is superior and Black is inferior. The manifestation of that cultural conditioning is Black people are undervalued, underestimated, and marginalized. Gabby Douglas' accomplishments flies in the face of that falsehood...Swallow That!!!

Pay the young lady for being the All-around Olympic gold medalist...period. That's how it is. Haters, should just choke on it, then clean up your own vomit.

Finishing 7th on the beam is worth what? Hmmm, I can spend my life trying to cure cancer and making a decent living...or make millions before I'm 20 being so-so in gymnastics...hmmm, tough choice.

She also finished last in a game of tiddly-winks many years ago. You forgot to bring that up too. Tell me something. Does it BURN you to know that a black woman at 16 will make more money with her two wins including the pinnacle of the sport - the all around title (which you seem to have conveniently forgotten) than you'll ever make in 10 lifetimes? Damn, you should have been born 100 years ago. Now? People earn what they earn based on merit and not the color of their skin. I know, sucks to live in 2012 for racists such as yourself.

Hmmm are you an icon of American sports and making your country proud? Did you compete against the best in the world and come back with the gold? No. So stop the hate and be respectful and proud of our olympians! You don't see me complaining about how much money Kim Kardashian has for doing nothing, so keep your negativity to yourself my friend.
