2011-2012 report card: Matt Barnes
By Andy Kamenetzky
May 28, 2012 10:10 AM

The more things change for Matt Barnes, the more they first get better, then turn unfortunately worse before reaching an endpoint that feels, for all intents and purposes, the same. Last season, Barnes performed as a solid, if not necessarily spectacular, reserve before a knee injury rendered him ...

Watching San Antonio run their offense with so much motion makes me envious. Barnes would thrive in that type of scheme since he moves so well off the ball. The Lakers offense this year often lacked team rhythm, although Barnes was effective at creating, particularly in concert with Sessions. He was a mess during the playoffs, but I think you can't underestimate the impact of a bumb ankle and neck. I would be sorry to see him go, but such is life in the NBA. Lowry and Scola would be a huge upgrade over Blake and Pau...

i think garnett wouldn't mine signing with the lakers.. he wants to win championship but for lakers fan not wanting this guy on our team.. you're probably right on that one.. i only see him and odom as pf that can help our team esp since we dont have the money to pay other quality pfs

josh smith has a good mid range jumper...plus he can run the floor. and atl would do it because josh smith wants to be out of ATL..and pau would be a perfect replacement for smith.

josh smith is nice but i think lakers want a pf who has a mid range jumper... i dont see why atlanta would trade someone young for an older guy like gasol

yeah he would be a perfect fit playing next to bynum but there are others like him via trade for pau. josh smith comes to mind, scola also...lamarcus aldridge(but portland won't do that trade).

i think the houston trade will most likely go down. lowry is not happy in houston and mchale still wants that big man. i think pau/blake or pau/sessions will be traded to houston for lowry, scola and maybe a number one pick...

yeah the trade you put up like i said makes sense for all sides. if anything close to that happens...it would be nice.

well thats why in the trade up there.. i included derrick williams.. a young athletic pf who has lots of potential... he can shoot from outside too

if we dont get a PF in return when giving up pau..then we will suck next year. scola would be perfect. he's much tougher than pau. but thats not the ideal trade.

i rather get lowry n martin then lowry n scola... martin can shoot and can be our sixth man on our team

thats not a bad trade for all sides. but as for your "add odom/garnett"....the lakers can't sign odom until one full calendar year(so not until december of this year) and by that time odom will most likely sign with another team. and as for signing garnett....i doubt he would want to sign with the laker and i doubt any sane pure hearted laker fan would want that guy on our team. i'm tired of hearing garnett to lakers talk. thats offensive.

OMG this guy is so overrated, he disappears during any crunch time the team needs him, Dont let the door hit him in the $@% on the way out!!

a grade "b" is too high in my opinion. if you count just the regular season that maybe that grade will suffice but when you add in the postseason it has to go down to a C- or a D. the guy totally disappeared in the playoffs. not sure if it was the injury that was still hindering him or not but his defense was bad and he did not hit key 3 pt shots that we needed him to. i think he's def gone next year. he's a poor mans shane battier and that is not saying much about his play. keep artest and give ebanks more playing time next year.

Because of Barnes' activity he's able to grab much needed offensive rebounds. But watching him go back up strong and throw the ball through the backboard and brick every lay-up is horrendous. I would rather see Ebanks and Eyenga in that role next year.
