Rapid Reaction: Rangers 11, Mariners 5
By Richard Durrett
Apr 9, 2012 10:18 PM

ARLINGTON, Texas -- It was Yu-mania at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and the 25-year-old Japanese pitcher struggled with his command in the first inning, giving up four runs. But the Texas Rangers' offense went to work against Seattle Mariners starter Hector Noesi, and by the time Darvish left the...

Yu Darvish is not the second coming. He was bailed out by the offense, and he was extremely lucky that was the offensive deficient Mariners last night. Don't come in here, and call people trolls just because you apologists can't handle people criticizing the Rangers or their players. It helps to take off your blinders and pompoms so you can look at things constructively.

Yu had no control at all, he got lucky the mariners started swinging at 1st pitches otherwise not even 11 runs would be enough to get him the win.

So he got lucky on all of the 10 in a row her retired? Come on, give the dude some credit. He had a horrible start but finished strong.

Best poster at the game, by far...Love YU long time! I agree, it was like watching a train wreck in the first, but the farther he went, the better he got. Honestly believe he's going to do just fine when he gets a few games under his obi. Have a little patience and enjoy the ride..I know I am!

according to the trolls, elvis andrus is the worst player baseball has ever seen because he isnt hitting well right now. Give Yu a little longer to actually acclimate to the mlb climate before we start throwing him to the wolves.

Thank god it was the Mariners who he was pitching against, if it were any half decent hitting team they would still be playing in the first inning.

Anyone remember what it was like when C.J. first pitched for the Rangers? It was pretty scary, and it stayed that way for a while. I think Darvish is going to be just fine, actually much better than just fine.

This is why you don't overpay someone who has never thrown an MLB pitch. Look at Daisuke. Sure, he had two great first years, then became an afterthought. Yu was no better than Daisuke in Japan, so I'll only believe the hype after he's proven himself.

Yu Darvish was astronomically better than Daisuke in every way. lol this guy has no idea what he's talking about.

What they are actually paying him is not unreasonable. The big expense was payed to his former team. Also, quit being so reactionary. Nowadays everyone makes up there mind about things immediately. Give the guy some time. He is a completely different style pitcher than most Japanese guys, lets actually let him get a few months into the season before you seal his fate.

did you hear that stat he had in japan? 400+ innings pitched in two season in japan and only gave up 10 home runs?!? thats insane..I know the hitting in the MLB is 100 times better then over in Japan. but still that says something about the mans pitches. give him some time, i think he will prove himself. The rangers have been scouting him for years and wouldn't have offered him that kind of money unless they were for sure about his talent. Boston didn't put Daisuke's size in consideration enough

Actually, he was a lot better than Daisuke in Japan. And you can call it overpaying if you want, but his contract is actually extremely reasonable. Also, I wouldn't start overreacting over one start, especially since he was his own worst enemy; if he starts getting shelled, then I'll worry.

Do any other Rangers fans miss Josh Lewin's broadcasting desperately? Mets fans are lucky to have him.

I love Dave Barnett. he did great on the Radio broadcast and he does well on the TV. Lewin I liked on the radio for his show but the broadcast he was ok. Excitement is nice but I don't need it. He was pretty good and I was shocked that the Rangers didn't bring him back last year but I really do like Barnett a lot. A lot better than Radigan.

I always loved his style. Barnett's problem is that he is a radio guy doing TV. He is solid, but he doesn't bring the same excitement to the TV booth as Lewin

Josh Lewin's a great dude. I wish it worked out but Dave Barnett does a solid job. Everyone talked trash about Lewin and then immediately missed him...
