Dan Rafael
Greetings Fight Freaks and welcome to the dog days of summer chat. At least there's fight action with FNF tonight, ShoBox and tomorrow's Broner-Escobedo fight on HBO. Plus lots of stuff going on with the press conferences for Martinez-Chavez and Alvarez-Lopez not to mention last week's terrific Garcia-Khan fight. So check out all the news stories, feature and blogs and look at the fight schedule too. Let's get to it.
matt (north of england)
which Brit stands the best chance of a heavyweight world title in next 2/3 years in your opinion please
Dan Rafael
I can certainly see Haye getting a belt, although not against Vitali Klitschko.
David (Cape Canaveral)
Good win for Haye, not sold on his chances with Vitali at all as I believe he'll just look to survive like he did with Wlad....your thoughts?
Dan Rafael
I dont disagree. Fighting Chisora and a Klitschko are two entirely different situations.

Dan did u read about the boxer who's bloodY nose and DNA got him arrested for a Bank Robbery?
Dan Rafael
Yes I did. Moral of the story: Don't rob banks.
Keith H (Seattle)
Before we get too far into this, let's unite as Fight Freaks and extend our sympathies and prayers to those in Aurora, CO.
Dan Rafael
Absolutely. Save the violence for the ring.
Jim (Cleveland)
What's next for Amir Khan? Any chance of a Khan/Ortiz career crossroads type of fight?
Dan Rafael
Way too early to say what's next for Khan but I'd love to see a fight with Ortiz when Ortiz is healed up.
Derek (Boulder CO)
Too bad Top Rank/Golden Boy will get in the way, but Alvarado-Garcia would be a hell of a fight.
Nicholas (Montreal )
Do you think Broner is a legitimate future super star or is he just very overhyped at the moment?
Dan Rafael
It's too early to say. He fights Saturday but I think he beats Escobedo. He has all the look of a future star. But you never know until you face top opposition, which he has not done yet.
Nile (Bridgeport, CT)
If Broner's able to get by Escobedo, do you think he will move up for bigger names?
Dan Rafael
Broner said that this is his last fight at 130 and that he's going to 135.
Dan Rafael
Here's my feature on Broner's fight with Escobedo: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/8183516/vicente-escobedo-stands-way-adrien-broner-plans
Roy (Reno)
Dan, what to make of TR winning the Lara-Vanes purse bid? What are the chances this fight happens?
Dan Rafael
Top Rank won the bid today. Now they send out the paperwork to Golden Boy and let's see what happens. Both companies bid. TR won it fair and square. Now time for both fighters to step up. It's an excellent fight. I hope it happens. I have no idea if it really will.
Mike (DC)
Was bummed that Pirog pulled out, but do you still like Golovkin-Proska. Excited to see Golovkin either way
Dan Rafael
Pirog got hurt. It happens. If it's Poksa, that's a great replacement. He is not well known in the US but trust me he can fight. I've seen his last few fights and he is very, very solid.
Jon (Wisconsin)
Dan are you as pumped up for the DeMarco Molina fight as I am.
Dan Rafael
I dont know. How pumped are you? But I do look forward to it. Should be a good action fight.
DAVE (Wisconsin)
Am I being to cynical thinking Ward Dawson will probably not be a very entertaining fight?
Dan Rafael
Some say that. I for one am looking forward to seeing two of the best test themselves against each other. I dont expect a slugfest, I expect a boxing match. Temper your expectations and you wont be disappointed. But if you go in thinking all you want is a slugfest, this isn't the fight for you.
Darren (Dallas,Tx)
Watching Pavlik vs Taylor 1. How the Hell did Pavlik survive Round 2?? What a fight!!
Dan Rafael
I have no idea. I was ringside for that fight and we all thought it was over in the second round.
Jrod (Rancho ca)
Whats the word on danny garcia splitting with ortiz
Dan Rafael
They have split. Fighters and trainers go their separate ways often. The marriage had obviously run its course.
Robert (San Diego, CA (America's Finest City))
Should Humberto Soto drop back down to the lightweight division?
Dan Rafael
Why?
