Konerko breaking out of hitting slump
CHICAGO -- First baseman Paul Konerko is starting to swing the bat, and that is good news for the Chicago White Sox and the veteran’s teammates. The 37-year-old team captain had three hits Friday, including a go-ahead single in the seventh inning and a one-out base hit in the 11th that led to the winning run in the 4-3 victory over the Miami Marlins.

Harrelson again comes to Sox's defense
CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox broadcaster Ken "Hawk" Harrelson went to bat for the team he loves Saturday when umpire Angel Hernandez appeared to briefly cost it a victory. Alex Rios appeared to avoid a double play in the 10th inning by beating a throw to first base on a play that would have allowed the winning run to score from first base.

CHICAGO -- The new-look John Danks had an impressive return to the major leagues Friday, using a little less velocity but pinpoint control to confidently announce he is back. After a 370-day break from pitching in the major leagues because of a serious shoulder injury, Danks retired the first seven batters he faced and went six-plus innings in the Chicago White Sox’s eventual 4-3 victory over the Miami Marlins in 11 innings.

CHICAGO – Chicago White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham will be a spectator for a few days after his rehabilitation assignment for a broken bone in his left hand was halted. Beckham had just contacted general manager Rick Hahn before playing in Thursday night’s game with Triple-A Charlotte to discuss a possible return to the White Sox.

White Sox move frees roster spot
The Chicago White Sox placed infielder Angel Sanchez on waivers Thursday, opening a spot on the 40-man roster. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reported that if Sanchez gets through waivers, the White Sox will offer the Rule 5 selection back to his former team, the Los Angeles Angels.
