CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox starter Jake Peavy deserves the headlines for a job well done Saturday, tossing a complete game in getting his sixth win of the season. He can also thank the game’s hero, third baseman Conor Gillaspie, who drove in the winning run in the ninth with a walk-off single for a 2-1 victory.

Tyler Flowers still out with back spasms
CHICAGO -- Chicago White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers was out of the lineup for the second straight day with back spasms. Flowers first complained of lower back pain after Wednesday’s series finale with the Boston Red Sox.

White Sox send Angel Sanchez to Triple-A
CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox activated infielder Angel Sanchez off of the disabled list Saturday and outrighted him to Triple-A Charlotte. Sanchez, who had been on the DL with a lower back strain since April 10, was removed from the Sox’s 40-man roster, which now stands at 39.

Konerko breaking out of hitting slump
CHICAGO -- First baseman Paul Konerko is starting to swing the bat, and that is good news for the Chicago White Sox and the veteran’s teammates. The 37-year-old team captain had three hits Friday, including a go-ahead single in the seventh inning and a one-out base hit in the 11th that led to the winning run in the 4-3 victory over the Miami Marlins.

Sale expects to start Tuesday vs. Cubs
CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox hope ace left-hander Chris Sale will be ready to pitch Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs. Sale missed his start against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday because of soreness in his left shoulder.

The injury hex started in spring training when it became apparent that rehabbing starter John Danks was not going to be ready in time to get big league hitters out.

Reed getting job done in closer's role
CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have had numerous great closers in their proud history and Addison Reed is doing his best to make his mark on the position. Reed has saved 15 of 16 opportunities in 2013 and has come through on 90 percent of his career save chances.

Sox to have three managers in three days
CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox will have the unique circumstance of three different men managing the team June 2-4 during a three-game series in Seattle. Manager Robin Ventura will miss the first two games of the trip for the graduation of his daughter in California.
