Head-coaching movement is not the only thing that dictates the trajectory of college football. In many cases, coordinators are as important to the lifeblood of a program as the head man. They have far more day-to-day interaction with the players, after all.

Here are five coordinator moves that could have a big impact on the 2014 season (and beyond), plus one ACC coach whose decision to stay put could be as important as any hire.

Jeremy Pruitt

From: FSU defensive coordinator

To: Georgia defensive coordinator

Like Washington losing Steve Sarkisian and gaining Chris Petersen, Georgia just might have upgraded on defense by virtue of losing defensive coordinator Todd Grantham to Louisville.

Pruitt has won three consecutive national titles, two as Alabama’s secondary coach and the third, last season, as FSU’s defensive coordinator.

I know in my visits last fall to Tallahassee -- and this was well before FSU had hit the national spotlight in earnest -- the Seminoles could not speak highly enough of Pruitt’s style and scheme. The players bought in quickly and were rapidly rewarded. Granted, a lot of the procuring happened before Pruitt arrived, but watch how many FSU defensive players are drafted in the next couple of springs.
