The San Francisco Giants have won the World Series in every even-numbered year since 2010, and you can bet they'll do everything they can this offseason to get right back in the playoffs in 2016 for a chance to keep that trend alive. The Giants have a specific four-pronged plan on what they'd like to do in the coming months, and they have the financial backing from ownership to implement that plan. The Giants also have more than $40 million coming off the books from this year's payroll, so they have plenty of space to make a big splash.

The Giants are very pleased with their infield of Brandon Belt, Joe Panik, Brandon Crawford and Matt Duffy, and they're also impressed with rookie Kelby Tomlinson that they're going to get him some work in the outfield this winter to improve his versatility.

Their catching crew also is strong with Buster Posey, Andrew Susac and Hector Sanchez, and they're happy with outfielders Hunter Pence and Angel Pagan, both under contract. Left field is really the only position to upgrade, even though they're satisfied with what Nori Aoki and Marlon Byrd have brought to the table.

But their starting rotation will require a lot of work. That'll be the team's priority this offseason, and they're hoping to solve it through free agency. Here's a closer look at the impending departures and the aforementioned four-pronged plan.

Objective No. 1: Acquire another top-of-rotation type of starter to pair with Madison Bumgarner

The Giants made a competitive bid last offseason for free agent Jon Lester but lost out to the Chicago Cubs. According to my sources, the Giants plan on being all in for this year's top free-agent pitchers, David Price and Zack Greinke (if he opts out of his contract with the Dodgers).
