Ted Ginn, Jacoby Jones candidates to be kick returner

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A visit by former Baltimore receiver/return man Jacoby Jones was followed by a tour of the team facility for former Cardinal Ted Ginn, who plays a similar role.

Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reported Ginn’s visit.

Free agency doesn’t open until March 10, but players who’ve recently been cut are free to negotiate as they aren’t waiting on contracts to expire.

Based on their recent production, Jones or Ginn wouldn’t figure prominently in the Titans receiving corps.

But adding one would could qualify as an upgrade on free-agent running back Leon Washington, who didn't do much with the kick return job last year.

Washington averaged 23.8 yards on 31 returns in 2014, when he also worked as the team’s primary third-down running back. Working as the team’s punt returner, running back Dexter McCluster averaged just 7.0 yards per return.

Ginn averaged only 19 yards on kickoff returns and 10.7 yards per punt return for Arizona.

Jones gave the Ravens 30.6 yards per kickoff return and 9.2 yards per punt return.

The Titans are thin at receiver. Jones or Ginn would likely get a chance to earn a role at the back end of the group.
